REVIEWS
I was a bit anxious to start with as the explanations were very technical and I am not that skilled. Also it was not that clear what we were going to end up doing, to start with . I did not expect that the whole session was going to be outside, and I wondered for a while whether we were about to draw the church. But all fell into place and it was an intense and well-prepared workshop. We worked from models' photographs and the pre-explanations on various "vanishing points" and the proportions of the human body turn up to be really useful. Fakiha was super helpful and I am pleased with what I did. She also gave us some references for a website. I had a look and I am keen to practise more. Thank you Fahika!

I noticed her picture in the echo, sadly she had a routine op but didn?t recover. I just felt the need to paint her. A friend saw it on my facebook page and asked if she could buy it. I agreed. She actually donated it to the keepers office, which I thought was such a lovely jesture. Every now and then she pops up on my laptop and it just makes me smile. &10084&65039

Title or Location: Mountain Cabin
I painted this in acrylic and experimented with a dry brush to create the smoky effect across the mountain. I used a colourful background before adding layers to capture the rich sunset. I then added the mountain, the cabin and eventually the gate. I used a realistic painting for reference as I needed to go back to the basics and it unintentionally turned out dreamlike through experimenting with the colour palette and using different brushes

I'm so proud of this painting and I'm glad I finally finished it. I avoided painting the details on the boats for a couple of years, I get so afraid of messing paintings up when they go well that I put off finishing them. So I submitted this painting into an exhibition to force myself to do it. I'm so glad I did! It's the second boat painting I've done and I think I've got the bug for it, I'm already working on more.

Title or Location: The Cockatoo
I have always been fascinated by birds, as a young child I would spend hours with my grandfather helping with his averies and learning about them and the different species and behaviours. The Cockatoo has always been my favourite. I can't afford one at the moment, so for now I will just settle for painting one instead.

Title or Location: Begging Red Tree
I painted this tree, drawing multiple Japanese visual sources as inspiration. I used bright colours to make the image stand out. I experimented with expressive brushwork to create and dreamy and smokey effect, which brought the image to life. The tree looks like its begging hence the name and the arms reaching out of the waterfall creates the illusion that life exists beyond the tree and that it is trying to escape out of the water.
