Exploring Art with Nature

Exploring Art with Nature

Saturday 04 May
The Avenue - 9am - 2 Hours
Fakiha Khan
Creating art in nature is about connecting with your environment, being inspired by nature, and leaving it right where it was found. In this session, we will learn how to use tools and materials found in nature to show that anything can be art if you're creative enough. Rocks, sticks, logs on the forest floor, even mud after a good rain can all be turned into art.

Recently I haven't been at full fitness (stroke). To aid me through the rehabilitation I decided to get my pens and pencils out. My day job is a carpenter/ fitter and have been doing this on and off since I left Southampton faculty of art and design in 1991. Like riding a bike, I soon got the bug again! Hope you enjoy my art work which was a commission fom a friend after he saw some of my recent work.

Title or Location: "Wings of Freedom"
The painting showcases a stunning egret bird with its wings spread wide, against a stark black background. The contrast between the white bird and the black paper makes the egret stand out in a striking and captivating manner. The message behind the painting is one of determination, courage, and readiness to embark on a journey towards one's dreams, despite any challenges that may come their way. The egret symbolizes freedom, strength, and the willingness to soar to great heights. Overall, this

An experiment using soft pastels on stretched canvas. The texture of the canvas lent itself to the pastels quite well. The image is based on a photo taken by a friend visiting Venice, Italy. By using more vibrant colors than the original, I believe it became more magical.

Title or Location: New beginnings
I'm new to oils and painting, I would say my style would be fine art and surrealism, no rules and I can escape, experiment and have fun. I painted this scene as I'd came across a beautiful photo of calla Lilly valley in California, I use the idea but made it my ownwith the colours and changed parts of it, I like the perspective and the enchanting mysterious vibe it gave. Returned to art almost a year ago, still finding my way, but determined, excited and fully motivated to reach my potential,

Title or Location: The Boats at Sunset in Bradenton
I was at The Starfish Restaurant when I captured this view on a cold day in Bradenton Florida from the dock behind the restaurant. I was fascinated by the light coming from one of the boats and the gas pump. The photograph helped me to produce this oil painting when I got home in Ohio.
